Cafe Cre Asion
Written on Saturday, 1 August 2015 @ 20:22 ✈

A few days ago, I decided to finally drop by a little cafe on the outskirts of Town Hall called 'Cafe Cre Asion'. Lately, the hype around this Cafe has been growing rapidly, hearing that its Matcha Green Tea Latte and Fondant with Seasonal Berries were a must.

It was about a 10 minute walk from Town Hall station and situated in a small alleyway. Honestly, if I had gone to this cafe alone, I would have turned around at the sight of the alleyway as it was quite deserted. I'm glad I dropped by with a friend though.

I had been warned by friends who had previously gone to this cafe that the Latte would be bitter, but I never expected it to be as bitter as I had tasted. The Latte itself without the sprinkled powder on top the froth layer of the Latte was fine. It was a different experience as I had never tasted a genuine green tea drink. Although, it was not quite what I was used to as I realised how much sugar was added to the green tea lattes that I have previously tasted at My Sweet Memory and Chanoma. The Latte from Cre Asion presented a genuine and unsweetened green tea flavour.

I personally prefer my drinks to be sweet, which is also why I never drink coffee as I dislike the bitter taste of coffees. I would very much like to try the other drinks that are available at Cre Asion, such as the Japanese teas or the Chai Latte, as Chai latte's are generally sweeter which is definitely more agreeable with my taste buds.

We also tried the Fondant with seasonal berries, it was amazing. As I cut into the soft walls of the fondant, the glossy green tea filling could be seen running from its centre. At first I was a bit hesitant, as I was unsure of whether it would be as bitter as the latte, however it wasn't at all.  The green tea filling itself was the perfect amount of bitterness. Actually, it was hardly noticeable. I wouldn't know how to describe it as it has been a while... but the taste of the Fondant was balanced as the sweet taste of the chocolate cake mixed together with the somewhat light green tea tasting filling. The seasonal berries presented a mix of sweet and sour tastes. I was devouring the berries too fast to notice what type of berries were sitting in front of me, but the overall sweet taste of the berries was refreshing after having a spoonful of the chocolate cake.

The cafe itself was very cramped as there were about 9 customers (including myself and my friend) seated inside and we had filled every seat available. There were about 6 seats available outside the cafe, however it was too cold and windy to sit outside. However, as this cafe had only recently gained popularity, I wasn't too surprised by its size. I will definitely love to come back again to have the Fondant and try the other drinks that are available.
